Q: When should I have my senior portraits taken?

A: For the most part, your senior portraits are taken the summer leading up to your senior year. This is due to most schools having a yearbook deadline early in the fall. However, if you are not interested or do not need a yearbook photo, some will choose sessions in the late fall, winter or spring before graduation.

Q: How do I choose a location for my session?

A: Together, we will talk about all the aspects of what your looking for to make your session as you envisioned. Whether you're looking for flower fields or the tall buildings of Downtown Saint Paul -- I have several locations to choose from if you do not already have a location in mind.

Q: What if it rains?

A: I watch the weather very closely when it comes to my sessions - being that we live in Minnesota where the weather tends to be incredibly ever-changing, I like to watch the weather and if it is due to rain 2 hours prior to your session, we will work on rescheduling.

Q: When is the best time of day for my session?

A: The best time is usually 1-2 hours before sunset or 1 hour after sunrise (if you're an early bird like I am).

Q: How long will my session last?

A: Sessions can last anywhere from 30 minutes up to 2 hours depending on the session you choose when booking.

Q: Can I bring my parents or a friend?

A: Of course! Parents are strongly encouraged to come to your session but not mandatory. I always suggest bringing a friend or sibling who can really make you laugh and help you relax and get comfortable. If you are under 18 at the time of your session, I insist your bring someone along with you.

Q: How many outfits can I bring?

A: This will also depend on the session your booking but anywhere between 1 and 4 is a good number.

Q: How long before I can see my photos?

A: I typically like to get a sneak peek up on Facebook or Instagram the night of your session or the next day. After that, gallery turn around is about 1-2 weeks.

Q: Can I post my images on Instagram or Twitter?

A: Absolutely! Show yourself off!! The only thing I ask of you is to tag me in the image as photo credit and PLEASE do not put ANY filters over your images.

Q: OK! I have decided I want you to be my Senior Portrait Photographer, what do I do next?

A: Please use the contact form or send an email inquiry to mshanaephoto@gmail.com. All sessions require a non-refundable deposit due at the time of booking which I will go into detail more when we chat. I will send over my pre-session questionnaire after booking as well.
